Biography

Vino Kanapathipillai is a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in the Department of Politics and International Studies. Her research interests concern the public-private divide, especially as it pertains to state-corporate relations. Her current research project looks at state-corporate relations in the context of human rights and accountability for mass atrocities, with particular attention to genocide, while her PhD research focused on the ways in which state-corporate relations are evolving on the basis of security concerns. Vino convenes and teaches modules on Global Advocacy, Global Public Policy and Human Rights. She holds an MSc in International Politics (Distinction) and a PhD in International Relations from SOAS, University of London. Before entering academia, Vino worked as a management consultant for over seven years, working on several projects for corporate and government clients in the UK and Australia. She also managed a two-year UK government-funded policy research project, working with the Berghof Foundation, on diasporas and transnational politics in post-conflict peacebuilding, with reference to Sri Lanka.
