Biography

Ana Nenadović is a researcher in Gender and Queer Studies, Literary and Cultural Studies and Digital Humanities. She is particularly interested in the links between Africa and Latin America and the Caribbean. This global perspective has been inherent to her education and research since taking up studies in African Studies and Romance languages and literatures at the University of Vienna and the University of Havana.

Ana further pursued this path during her PhD research at Freie Universität Berlin, focusing on representations of sexualised violence against female-identifying persons in South African and Latin American novels from a feminist perspective. Her research interests in Gender Studies have since moved from prose and poetry to music, in particular Hip Hop, and new media.

Previously to joining SOAS in 2022, Ana was a lecturer (praedoc) at the Institute for Latin American Studies at Freie Universität Berlin, a project coordinator at the Margherita-von-Brentano Centre at Freie Universität, and a lector in German at the University of Guadalajara (Mexico) and the University of Banja Luka.

Ana Nenadović is also an artist, and uses photography as a primary medium to communicate academic ideas through art.
