About this event

Enjoy a relaxed evening of music & culture from the Arabic-speaking world at the fourth edition of ‘Open Mic Night – A Night of Arabic Music’; a MARSM event hosted by SOAS Concert Series.

After three sold out Open Mic Nights which saw a range of performances from talented singers and musicians and drew in large audiences from across London, we’re back for the fourth time at another exciting new location.

Join us at Brunei Gallery Lecture Theatre at SOAS University for a night immersed in the beautiful sounds of the region. Bring your friends, order drinks at the bar, and get ready for another incredible line-up of live performers bringing you everything from covers of the likes of Umm Kulthum, Fairuz and Mashrou' Leila, to original songs and exclusive mashups.

If you would like to sign up to perform in advance, please register your interest with Layla at layla@marsm.co.uk by 16th December 2022 latest [spaces are limited] – we are looking for both vocalists and musicians. The environment promises to be friendly and supportive with people there to feel a sense of home through music, so don’t worry if you don’t have much experience in performing!

The fun doesn’t stop there, on entry to the venue you will have free access to ‘The Future of Traditions, Writing Pictures: Contemporary Art from the Middle East’, a calligraphy exhibition displaying the work of artists from the region and beyond, in the Brunei Gallery. And there will be an after party at the Student Union bar, where an exclusive DJ will be playing the best Arabic dancefloor hits to celebrate the end of the night.
