Mr Guy Robert Eyre
Guy Eyre gained his BA from Bristol University in Philosophy. He also gained an MA in Legal and Political Theory from University College London (UCL) and an MA in Near and Middle Eastern Studies from SOAS (fully-funded). Guy is a PhD candidate in the Department of Politics and International Studies at SOAS studying religious politics and contemporary Islamic political thinking in North Africa. His PhD fieldwork (2016-18) examined how prominent 'quietist' Islamist social movements in North Africa, who claim they 'don’t do politics' and instead focus on religious education, actually do do politics. They do this politics, Guy argues, through both practices of intra-group political friendship and through practices of contestation vis-a-vis competing Islamist networks.
