Biography

Lovleen Bhullar is a Research Fellow at the Edinburgh Law School where she is working on ‘Smart regulation of antibiotic use in India: Understanding, innovating and improving compliance’, a Newton-Bhabha Fund project funded by the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) and the Government of India, Department of Biotechnology (DBT). She completed her doctoral research on ‘Water Pollution in India: Environmental Rights Litigation as a Solution’ in 2018.

Lovleen’s research interests include international environmental and human rights law as well as comparative and domestic constitutional and environmental law, with a particular focus on the formulation and operationalisation of the rights to environment, health, water and sanitation. She is also interested in the transformative potential of rights litigation and the role of the judiciary. Lovleen has co-edited Right to Sanitation in India: Critical Perspectives (Oxford University Press 2019), and contributed to Indian Environmental Law: Key Concepts and Principles (Orient Blackswan 2019).
