School of Finance and Management 2nd for Impact in the REF 2021

The School of Finance and Management has excelled in the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2021. The most notable and impressive results are Impact where SFM has improved signifcantly, rising 22 places from 24th in REF2014 to 2nd place in REF2021 and is now placed at the top of the 1st quartile.

SFM has moved up 19 places in the overall ranking, from 60th in REF2014 to 41st in REF2021 and is now in the top 2nd quartile (Business and Management UoA 17). This upward mobility is one of the most noticeable advancements in the ranking within the Business and Management UoA.

Dr Orly Levy, Reader in International Management and Research Director at the SFM said:

The SFM Output results have also improved with 22.4% of outputs now categorized as 4*. This reflects a 155% increase in 4* outputs which means that SFM has moved up 8 places in the Outputs ranking to 49th place in REF2021. SFM has also moved up 11 places on the Environment component, from 74th to 63rd place, and is now placed in the 3rd quartile.
