Biography

Fernandes is the 2016 Mo Ibrahim Foundation GDAI Research Scholar. He is an alumnus from the Chevening Scholarship (UK), the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship (USA) and the African Programme on Rethinking Development Economics (South Africa). He is the author of the blog "Research Angola: Reflexões Sobre Políticas de Desenvolvimento" and writes a fortnight column “Milagre ou Miragem?” reflecting on the state development policies in Angola at the leading newspaper "Expansão".On the side Fernandes runs "Oportunidades para Jovens em Angola" a non-profit project which seeks to identify and share with young Angolans training, internship, scholarship and job offers that they would not otherwise learn about them.
